Breakfast with Santa

Gibson Southern Theatre is hosting a Breakfast with Santa on November 9, 2019 at Carriage Inn in Haubstadt from 8:00-11:00AM. Join us in your favorite PJ’s for a delicious breakfast and drink for only $8.00. Carry-out is also available.

All proceeds from this year’s Breakfast with Santa will help support the family of Deven Pohl. A 2018 graduate of Gibson Southern High School, Deven Pohl served as a followspot operator with the lighting crew for four years with Gibson Southern Theatre. Deven was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma, an aggressive form of cancer, in mid August 2019, and he is currently being treated at St. Jude Hospital in Memphis, TN.  Deven plans to continue his education at Purdue University majoring in AG Systems Management.

Professional photographs, either a digital copy or 8×10 print, with Santa & Mrs. Claus will be available from Diamond Photography for $10.00 each. A portion of each photograph purchase will also benefit Devon Pohl.

Vaudeville 2019: It’s a Good Vaudeville, Charlie Brown

Gibson Southern Theatre opens their forty-sixth theatre season with Vaudeville 2019: It’s a Good Vaudeville, Charlie BrownVaudeville is a community favorite production and the single largest event at Gibson Southern High School with over 175 students involved annually.  It’s a Good Vaudeville, Charlie Brown celebrates the premiere production for Gibson Southern Theatre from the inaugural 1974-1975 season, You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, directed by Mrs. Kathy Parks.

Join Charlie Brown and his friends, Sally, Lucy, Schroeder, Snoopy, and many others, as they all come together to help the highly anxious Charlie Brown take on the role as the director of this year’s Vaudeville.

Vaudeville 2019: It’s a Good Vaudeville, Charlie Brown runs December 6-8, 2019 and is directed by Mr. Adam Bledsoe with assistance from Mrs. Lisa O’Neal.


Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical

March 13-15, 2020

Inspired by the twisted genius of Roald Dahl, the Tony Award-winning Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical is the captivating masterpiece from the Royal Shakespeare Company that revels in the anarchy of childhood, the power of imagination and the inspiring story of a girl who dreams of a better life. With book by Dennis Kelly and original songs by Tim Minchin, Matilda has won 47 international awards and continues to thrill sold-out audiences of all ages around the world.

Matilda is a little girl with astonishing wit, intelligence and psychokinetic powers. She’s unloved by her cruel parents but impresses her schoolteacher, the highly loveable Miss Honey. Over the course of her first term at school, Matilda and Miss Honey have a profound effect on each other’s lives, as Miss Honey begins not only to recognize but also appreciate Matilda’s extraordinary personality. Matilda’s school life isn’t completely smooth sailing, however – the school’s mean headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, hates children and just loves thinking up new punishments for those who don’t abide by her rules. But Matilda has courage and cleverness in equal amounts, and could be the school pupils’ saving grace!

Packed with high-energy dance numbers, catchy songs and an unforgettable star turn for a young actress, Matildais a joyous girl power romp. Children and adults alike will be thrilled and delighted by the story of the special little girl with an extraordinary imagination.

Roald Dahl’s Matilda The Musical runs March 13-15, 2020, in the Gibson Southern Auditorium.


Young Playwrights Project 2020

Gibson Southern Theatre closes their forty-sixth season with the Young Playwrights Project 2020. This new tradition started in 2012 with a mission is to facilitate the use of playwriting, encourage creative expression and improve literacy, and to support its writers through student driven acting, directing, and designing culminating in public performances.

A product of the Theatre Arts classes at Gibson Southern, this production is comprised of student written, student directed, and student acted short plays and one-acts.

Young Playwrights Project 2020 runs April 2020, in the Gibson Southern Studio Theatre.
