Week 4 made us go from Bikini Bottoms to snow pants, but the show must go on for Week 5! With ten weeks to prepare an entire musical, every second counts. Time is especially important with a show like The Spongebob Musical that demands intense attention to detail. Missing a whole week of rehearsals is a big deal, but that’s nothing us at GSTD can’t handle!

For Week 5, Monday and Wednesday were full cast rehearsals where we largely focused on learning choreography. On Tuesday and Thursday, we honed in on specific scenes. We had double the amount of scenes to work on for Week 5 on account of us missing Week 4. Though that may sound daunting, taking the time to give each individual scene the attention it needs is very important and a crucial part of the process of putting together a musical!

The Week 5 Saturday Work Day was mainly dedicated to making sure the full cast had their costumes, an essential part of bringing the show to life. Finally getting to see everyone actually looking like the characters we’ve been working so hard to portray is such a gratifying feeling, a feeling unique only to theatre. We’re so excited to be creating this show, and we hope you love it just as much as we do! The SpongeBob Musical will be on stage in the Gibson Southern High School auditorium from March 13-15, we’ll see you then!
