Elizabeth Angermeier – MATILDA Senior Spotlight

Elizabeth Angermeier

What is your name? Elizabeth “Giz”  Angermeier

What is your cast role or crew position in Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical? I am a little kid named Alice.

What is your favorite Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical quote, song or scene — and why? It is very hard to pinpoint which is my favorite, but I love scene 4 which is the School Song. In order to put all of the blocks into the gate, we all have to work as a team or else it will all fall apart.

How many Gibson Southern Theatre productions (including Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical) have you been a part of while in high school? I have been a part of 8 theatre productions.

What is your favorite role, act, or show that you have been a part of in high school? Matilda has been my favorite for all three. I have learned a lot from being a dancer the last few years but this year I get to embrace my role and focus on developing my acting and my character. I am loving every second of it. It is the perfect part for me.

Do you have a favorite story from your time spent in theatre? There are so many stories and it is hard to pinpoint one. So many memories happened while at Gibson Southern. Through another theatre student I found a prom date, which then turned into a relationship with my now boyfriend. If it had not been for theatre I would never have gotten close to him. I also just remember all the laughs I have had with my friends and how close I have gotten to people who I never would have thought. I do not have a favorite story because they are all my favorite.

What are your plans after high school? I plan to attend the University of Southern Indiana and major in nursing. I plan to eventually become a nurse practitioner specialized in family care.

What words of advice do you have for those thinking about joining Gibson Southern Theatre? Do theatre! Theatre is one of the best things about high school. It helps you branch out and find out who you really are. You make so many friends and if you do not do theatre you will regret it. It is the most amazing experience and I hope everybody even slightly interested in theatre gives it a shot. It will be worth it.

Do you have anything else to add? I have greatly enjoyed my time in Gibson Southern Theatre. Most of my high school memories revolve around theatre. I have laughed and cried along the way and would not trade it for anything. I will miss the department so much.
