Gibson Southern Theatre opens their forty-fifth theatre season with Vaudeville 2018: Under the Big Top. Vaudeville is a community favorite production and the single largest event at Gibson Southern High School with over 185 students involved. Vaudeville 2018: Under the Big Top centers around Mr. Lockhart the soon to be retiring ringmaster and the circus he has called home for the majority of his life. The production runs November 30-December 2, 2018 and is directed by Mr. Adam Bledsoe with assistance from Mrs. Lisa O’Neal, Mr. John Spradley, Mrs. Demetra Tolley, and Mrs. Kathy Parks.
Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls, children of all ages, get ready for the Greatest Show in Gibson County! Mr Lockhart and his rebellious son, Johnny, take a close look at what life in the circus has meant to them and several of the most popular acts to step out in the show ring. Meet the dynamic duo of the Flying Trapeze. Hear the brave story of the Bearded Lady and feel the strength and determination of the Strongest Man. Laugh with the clowns and find out if Johnny will follow in his famous father’s footstep and wear the top hat. As the circus family share memories and say their goodbyes to Mr. Lockhart we’ll see that life is just one big circus and all you really need is a good sense of wonder.
