This Week’s Author
Mykenna Frizzell

Senior Mykenna Frizzell writes this week’s THE SPONGEBOB MUSICAL update. This year, Mykenna is the President of ITS Troupe #5623 and portrays the role of SpongeBob Squarepants in this season’s production of THE SPONGEBOB MUSICAL.

This week marked an exciting milestone for Gibson Southern Theatre as rehearsals officially began for The SpongeBob Musical! On Monday, the cast kicked things off with their first full run-through of the show, bringing everyone together for the very first look at this colorful and high-energy production.

Like any first rehearsal, there were a few nerves in the room—but they were quickly balanced by excitement and enthusiasm. Everyone involved is happy to be part of the process, and there’s a strong sense of teamwork already forming as the cast begins the journey of building Bikini Bottom from the ground up.

The first run-through gave students a chance to see how the story, music, and characters come together, setting the foundation for the weeks of rehearsals ahead. While there is still a lot of work to do, the energy in the room shows just how special this production is shaping up to be.

Our rehearsal process starts with a full cast vocal day on Mondays where we get together to work on the vocals that make the show! Tuesday through Thursday actors worked on five scenes – perfecting their characters and telling the story we are so excited to bring you this spring!

The SpongeBob Musical will take the stage March 13-15, 2026 at the Gibson Southern Theatre. With rehearsals just getting started, this is only the beginning—and it’s only going to get more fun from here!
