Senior Alyssa Baehl writes this week’s FOOTLOOSE update. This year, Alyssa is the Historian of ITS Troupe #5623 and portrays the role of Ariel in this season’s production of FOOTLOOSE.

The Cast of FOOTLOOSE continues to work through the scenes and prepare for their first performance during week six.

Monday was full of running through the songs and polishing the entire company’s vocals. Thanks to Mr. Rob Hutchinson, our Orchestra Conductor and Musical Theatre teacher, our cast is prepared to belt out these timeless songs.

Tuesday focused on our final few scenes, and on Wednesday, we learned the choreography associated with them. Our dancers, actors, and ensemble members all worked hard together to get the steps just right.

Thursday we put it all together: the acting and dancing come together on stage. This is a great time to practice lines and try new ways to convey the story.

Friday was an exciting new event for this show’s cast. We danced during the halftime of the Titans basketball game against Tecumseh. The excitement, nerves, and live audience really showed how far we have come as a group and just how close we are to show!

In this show, I get to play the role of Ariel Moore; the preacher’s daughter who wants to get out of Bomont. Playing this role comes with so many exciting opportunities, but I am most excited about the songs that I get to sing. Working with the cast has been amazing and I am so happy that we all get to perform this show together.
