This week was another exciting and productive step forward for Gibson Southern Theatre as rehearsals and preparations for The SpongeBob Musical continued in full swing!
Saturday was a productive day both on stage and behind the scenes. At GSHS, students and parents came together for the very first Work Day, kicking off construction and brainstorming for the show’s set pieces. The creativity and teamwork on display made it clear just how much dedication is going into bringing Bikini Bottom to life. While set work was underway, cast members headed out together for a group thrifting trip, searching for costume pieces and beginning to shape the unique looks of their characters.
On Monday, the entire cast reunited for a full group vocal rehearsal. This time was dedicated to strengthening ensemble vocals and building confidence in the music that drives the show. Hearing the cast sing together really showcased the energy and excitement behind this production.
Throughout the rest of the week, rehearsals focused on learning, rehearsing, and polishing four scenes. Actors continued developing their characters and refining the storytelling that will make this show so memorable for audiences. By Friday, the focus shifted to props, officially beginning the hunt for the many items that help bring the world of The SpongeBob Musical to life.
With each rehearsal and work session, the show continues to take shape. The collaboration between cast, crew, students, and families has been incredible, and the progress made this week sets a strong foundation for what’s to come. We can’t wait to keep building, rehearsing, and sharing this colorful and energetic production with you as opening night gets closer!
