The GSHS cast of FOOTLOOSE has completed week 5 of set work, rehearsals, blocking and choreography!
On Saturday of this week parents worked hard on set pieces while students organized their costumes! This was very important considering the variety of costumes each person will have in this show.
Mondays rehearsal was full of productivity! While dancers reviewed choreography on the stage, the rest of the cast was working through vocals, and recording a vocal track for the basketball teaser! This teaser will take place February 14th during the halftime of the boys varsity game!
Tuesday, the dancers and selected named characters learned the dance number “Still Rockin” which is a scene in the show when Ren, Ariel, Willard, and Rusty go to the Bar- B- Que, and discover a secret Willard’s been keeping. This number is so fun, and will really showcase the western vibe this show carries! Wedneday and Thursday were spent blocking scenes with majority of the named characters! These scenes are so fun to block because we all have the opportunity to spend time with each other and really get to know the people behind the characters we play.
This year, I get to play the role of Rusty!! Rusty is Ariel’s best friend, Willard’s girlfriend, and a strong force to be reckoned with. The highlight of playing Rusty for me, would be portraying her bubbly over the top personality. Rusty is a character who, no matter the circumstance will always make it a good time. Throughout the show Rusty shows the emotion, angst, and excitement in being a teenage girl in a town where those normal teenage experiences aren’t allowed. This show is so full of life, love, and forgiveness, and I am so fortunate to be able to work with very talented people everyday!!
