To finish off the 2021-2022 season, the annual International Thespian Society (ITS) Banquet was held on Sunday, April 24, and it was a success! All participants in any of our productions this school year were invited to join our theatre family with an amazing meal from Fazoli’s, followed by the awards ceremony where all of the senior members gave their final curtain calls.
There was a lot to celebrate this year after a successful season returning with two public main productions. “Vaudeville 2021: Vaudevillians” was yet another successful show added to the books. Our choir put on a wonderful concert “All Together Now!”in the fall. This winter we had a great Santa Breakfast at Carriage Inn. Students in the Theater Arts classes had a blast filming Young Playwrights! The Spring Musical “Disney’s The Little Mermaid” was a hit with all four shows sold out.
Of course we would not be anywhere without the support of the many adults in our department. Community Awards were given out at the Banquet to all our amazing adults who helped with sets, costumes, food, and much more. The adults included Demetra Tolley, Jason Tolley, Laura Russell, Amy Scheller, Kent Scheller, Jason Bartley, Zuniga Kluesner, and Kim Scheller. This year, Mr. Derek Barton, music teacher at Fort Branch Community School, received a spotlight as an Honorary Thespian of Troupe 5623 for his dedication to the arts and impact on the success of Gibson Southern Theatre.
Thank you to everyone who came to support any of our shows this year. We are so grateful for a community of people who support our department like you all do. GSTD would not be the same without you. We can not wait to see what next year holds for this department!
